Five Tips for Summer Skin

Summer is a time for beach days, vacations, and countless hours outdoors. While you may enjoy the extra sunshine, the excess heat, humidity, and sun exposure can wreak havoc on your skin leading to clogged pores, pigmentation, and sun damage. Here are five tips we recommend to keep your skin healthy and glowing all summer long.

Skincare Tip #1

SPF. SPF. SPF.

While this a must all year long, we tend to be outside more often this time of year when the sun's rays are the strongest. Be sure you're reapplying regularly and always use a broad-spectrum sunscreen which protects against both UVA and UVB rays. We recommend SPF 30 or higher.

Skincare Tip #2

Drink Up to Healthy Skin!

We can't stress enough how important it is to drink plenty of water during the summer months. Skin is easily depleted of moisture during the hotter months which can leave skin looking dry, dull and even makes lines & wrinkles more prominent. For an extra dose of skin hydration try incorporating hyaluronic acid into your skincare routine. Hyaluronic acid found in our Afghan Rose and Albanian Immortelle serums works by drawing moisture from the environment to fully hydrate the skin and promote a healthier, more supple complexion.

Skincare Tip #3

Lighten Up Your Moisturizer

Thick, rich creams should take a back seat during the hotter months. The increased temperature paired with humidity and sweat can smother pores and cause breakouts. Opt for a lightweight moisturizer instead that will still give you the hydration you need without clogging pores.

Skincare Tip #4

Don't Forget Your Vitamins

Choose products packed with vitamins & antioxidants to protect skin against oxidative stress including UV damage. Look for Ferulic Acid, Vitamin C and Astaxanthin. The same is true for your diet, eat plentiful amounts of seasonal fruits & veggies which are packed with vitamins, antioxidants and also hydrate. Our Afghan Rose and Albanian Immortelle serums contain powerful antioxidants and vitamins to help protect your skin from free radical damage.

Skincare Tip #5

Cleanse Skin Thoroughly

Skin's sebaceous glands are put into overdrive during the hotter months. As a result your skin produces more oil which can sit on the surface of the skin and clog pores leading to breakouts. Choose a purifying cleanser best suited for your skin type that will remove excess oil.
